In the state of Jharkhand, an east coast state of India, reports of violence and armed conflicts were increasing over the past decade. Like most conflicts around the world, the root cause was found to be related to economics and unemployment.
At Nandeetas, we are strong believers in empowerment through hand work. So we did our bit to help, by doing what we do best - designing handbags! We found the traditional weave done by local tribes of the area, were truly unique. The design of triangular motifs are made by counting the threads of the warp and weft of the fabric instead of being traced on to it, requiring immense skill and a keen eyesight. We started working with organisations and NGOs, to source the woven fabric and were happy to be a source of employment for some of the tribesmen/women.

Since each piece is individually made, no two pieces will be exactly the same. Any irregularities in the fabric weave are not flaws, but an important part of the individual appeal and story behind it.
This handcrafted shoulder bag is fully vegan and the colour on the natural cotton velvet has been dyed keeping the environment in mind. Designing these individualistic bags is what keeps us inspired.
